What is MUSE?

The MUSE Engine (Multi-Universal Storytelling Essentials) is a free, open-source TTRPG ruleset built to give you all the tools you'll ever need. The rules are setting-agnostic, meaning they can be adapted to anything from fantasy, to sci-fi, and beyond.

At its core, MUSE is lightweight, but it's designed to scale with your needs. Want a gritty dystopic game? Bolt on Lasting Injuries from the Workshop. Running a horror campaign? Consider adding Fear. Need something specific that doesn't exist yet? Create it! Talents and Powers are built to hack, modify, and expand MUSE without breaking it.

In addition to all this, MUSE is licensed Creative Commons (CC BY-SA 4.0), meaning you're free to take it apart, rebuild it, and share what you make with others.

Players and Gamemasters (GMs) alike should start by reading Rolling Dice, then proceed to Character Creation. GMs can find optional rules in the Workshop afterward. Forty-five minutes from now, your party should be ready to play.
